Tonerider Musical Products Ltd was founded in 2003 with one aim - to make the best sounding music gear on the planet - at prices the working musician can afford. We don’t have “student lines” or “pro series”: each and every piece of gear we produce is designed to perform in a professional environment - on stage or in the studio.
With rapidly expanding sales and distribution of our first Stratocaster pickup line, we decided in 2005 to build our own state of the art pickup manufacturing facility in Shenzhen, China, just over the border from Hong Kong, and the first strat, tele and humbucker pickups produced in Asia featuring world-beating specifications, reliability and tonal performance were shipped in early 2006. Over the last two years, the roster of artists and custom shops using Tonerider pickups has grown considerably and our products are now sold and played in nearly 20 countries. In 2007, we opened a small sales office in Shanghai – China’s commercial and creative hub, and a city with a small but thriving music scene. For 2008, we are introducing a variety of new products, the most important of which are the new Tonerider Analog Guitar Effects series. Designed in conjunction with Texan tone guru Brad Ferguson, these boxes feature True Bypass switching, full analog circuits often using discontinued vintage chips and transistors, and our bulletproof (well, guitarist-proof) custom enclosures - features you would normally only find in the most obscure, hard-to-find boutique products. We debuted these products for dealers in Oct last year, and the response has been better than we could have ever expected.
